Antonio Conte has confirmed that Victor Osimhen will be departing from Napoli this summer. Conte, the new Napoli coach, acknowledged a unique agreement between Osimhen and the club regarding his exit, as reported by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano. Conte stated, “I’m aware of his situation; I know there’s an agreement with the club, so it’s a different case compared to others.”
With Osimhen’s exit imminent, Conte is focusing on Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement. Lukaku, who spent the 2023/24 season on loan at AS Roma, previously played under Conte at Inter Milan. Conte praised Lukaku, saying, “He’s an excellent player, a top player. You always hope to have a player like Romelu on your side and not against you.”
Osimhen, who recently signed a new contract with Napoli including a €130 million release clause, has drawn interest from numerous top clubs. Although he turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli earlier this year and attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, Napoli may now consider a reduced fee for the Nigerian striker.
Chelsea is reportedly prepared to sell Lukaku for approximately £38 million this summer, making a move for the Belgian striker a viable option for Napoli.
